Daniel F. McKenzie passed away on June 17, 2012, after a long illness. Dan was the son of Ray and Vennye McKenzie who predeceased him. He is survived by his sister, Connie McKenzie Geary and her husband, Gail, his brother, Robert G. McKenzie and his wife, Gretchen. Also
surviving are one niece, five nephews, five great-nieces and four great-nephews. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from the University of Houston. Dan retired from Shell Oil Company and then owned and operated a surplus equipment sales company. He had served in the Marine Corps Reserve, the United States Air Force Reserve and was an Eagle
Scout. Dan was an avid tennis player and played in the Houston Oilmen's Tennis Tournament for many years. He particularly enjoyed the Westside Tennis Club and all of his friends there. Dan's many friends rallied around during his illness and provided hours of help, entertainment, and camaraderie. Funeral services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale on June 23,2012,
at 2:00 pm. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. William S. Reed of the Servants of Christ United Methodist Parish (park Place United Methodist Church). Dan asked that memorial donations be made to Mision Milby, an outreach program for high school and middle school students featuring computer labs and training, in care of Servants of Christ United Methodist
Parish, 3827 Broadway, Houston, TX 77017.
