The annual SPLC Retiree Luncheon was held in Houston on Wednesday, March 2nd and we broke our record for attendance with 148 attending: 95 Retirees and 53 guests. Thanks so much to Shell Pipeline for funding the event and for help in managing the venue.
Steve Ledbetter, SPLC President, shared an overview of Shell globally in light of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, as well as an update on the offer from Shell to buy back shares of Shell Midstream MLP. Steve emphasized that SPLC is still an important business for Shell, as evidenced by the $1.3 billion invested over the past few years.
Peyton Ross tried to stump the attendees with SPLC trivia, but was most successful in handing gifts to:
· Nick Schwab for travelling the furthest to attend (1,500 miles!)
· Mike Burton for having worked the longest (44 years)
· Barna Pope for being retired the longest (35 years)
Thanks also to Tina Brignac for the assistance taking pictures. Photos have been posted to both the “Shell Pipeline Corp Friends” Facebook group, which is open to all current and retired SPLC staff, and on the SPLC-r.com website, which is geared toward Retirees.
We intend to have the annual luncheon each year on the first Wednesday in March, so go ahead and mark your calendars for:
March 1st, 2023
Communications for that event will be sent via email in mid-January, so if your email address changes or if you know a Retiree who wasn’t invited this year, please let Jill Derise know.
